Welcome to IGB. We hope you enjoy your stay here, however there are a few rules that we ask that you follow. These are here not to prevent you from having fun, but instead to ensure everyone a pleasant posting community. If you do not agree with something said I the TOS you may contact an admin about it and they will decide whether we will change it. Profanity/Racial Slurs Yes, you can use profanity at IGB Boards. This includes the simplest curse word to the all beloved [****] Word. Racial slurs on the other hand are not allowed at IGB Boards and other words that are offensive towards others. We do not recommend using profanity towards other members because this leads to flaming and bashing which results in a ban. Copyrighted Material It isn’t that hard to avoid posting copyrighted material. If something has a copyright, trademark or any other proprietary right then it is illegal to post it. So just don’t. Copyrighted material may include pictures, logos, article scans, and TV broadcasts; however it is not limited to that. Generally, a warning or two will be given about copyrighted material before any ban is given out. Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling Let’s face it. Sometimes users aren’t going to like each other. As we are told as children: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.” This rule is true for these boards. We will not accept flame wars, hate posts, or personal attacks. Please leave these things to emails and instant messengers. Also, please avoid saying a certain board “sucks” or anything to that effect. This often provokes flame wars. If you don’t like a certain board then simply don’t post there. There is no reason to alienate the users who do. Finally, trolling is a serious offence at IGB. We don’t care if your board is more active or has a bigger admin control panel. If you come here to post about it then there must be something that we have that makes us better. If you post in a negative manner such as this, your bans may be more extensive, as trolling posts only show that you do not care for our boards. Minor disputes and remarks will usually be ignored. However if an argument becomes a disruption then its participants may be banned. Using the word " Fag " or other variations on the word will result in a ban. Spam Spam is not allowed on just about any message board. This one is no different. Posting the same message repeatedly, posting messages with little or no meaning, or posting a lot of short messages just to get a higher post count can and will be considered spam. Another consideration of spam is posting in every thread on the board with meaningless posts. Spam bans are usually minor and last a few hours to a few days. However, if you riot then bans can last from 2 weeks to a permanent ban. Impersonating Other Users / Accessing Another User's Account There is no reason to pretend to be someone else. Acting as if you’re an IGB mod or a user you know others do not like is obviously prohibited. This is true for other impersonations as well. You are also not allowed to use your friend’s account when you are banned or any other reason. This will result in both of you being banned. Additionally, hacking into a user’s account without permission, especially that of staff’s, will result in a permanent IP ban. Hacking/Exploiting Bugs Altering or changing IGB Boards code and/or exploiting code bugs for purposes other than what the message boards were intended to do is strictly prohibited. On a similar note, using automatic scripts on any part of IGB is also not permitted. Hacking, altering board code, exploiting code bugs and using scripts are all grounds for an immediate and permanent ban, although if you would just report these to an Administrator we would greatly appreciate it. Off-Topic Posts It isn’t that difficult to post a message on the right board. You probably shouldn’t post a thread titled “What’s your favorite band?” on the General Gaming board when there’s a music board perfect for topics like that. Off-topic posts will generally be moved or deleted but repeated offences may lead to further action. Advertising We have strict rules against advertising here at IGB. Offences start at one week and will increase for each offence. Spam advertising on the other hand will result in a permanent removal from the boards, whether it’s on the boards or through private messages. Other There are far too many possible scenarios for us to cover in the TOS. Just because it isn't specifically named here, doesn't mean it isn’t against the rules or can't be deemed against TOS by staff. IGB reserves the right to make spur of the moment decisions about questionable behavior/posts/content and be taken seriously without argument from the user.
